With over 100 years of experience, Copperhead Chemical Company is a leading manufacturer of energetic materials (including flammables and explosives) derived from the nitration of glycol esters. Our products include pharmaceutical-grade nitroglycerin and diluted nitroglycerin mixtures, explosives, propellants, and energetic fuel additives. Most of our products are specialty items made to specific customer specifications. We supply some of the most well known companies in the pharmaceutical and defense industries.Copperhead's manufacturing facility is an FDA registered site operating in compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). Other products and services include DNA/RNA syntheses activator chemicals, laboratory syntheses, and other cGMP custom manufacturing services.Copperhead's manufacturing facility is located in Tamaqua, PA, approximately 100 miles northwest of Philadelphia, close to Interstate Highways 78, 80, and 81. The site consists of 875 acres in the scenic foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. The facility opened in the early 1900's when Pott's Powder Company began manufacturing dynamite. Since then, the facility has been owned and operated by Atlas Powder, ICI Explosives, and, since 1997, Copperhead.
